Message

This is the General Bathroom of our Brooklyn, NY apartment. Nothing much special here. I never really cared for the wall tiles, and my wife and I are planning to partially re-do the space... mainly the walls. We are planning for 12" X 12" Marble wall tiles only halfway up the wall, capped off by a really beautiful marble chair rail moulding. The upper half of the wall will likely be painted in a bold, dramatic blue for contrast against the light-colored tiles The other items... granite countertop, vanity, euro-style latrine... will all stay. I'm a little ashamed of this...

My Kitchen, This is the Kitchen of my Brooklyn, NY apartment. I designed and built this space with several things in mind: Firstly I wanted LIGHTING that could accommodate various moods. Secondly, I wanted a kitchen that was spacious enough to hold a few socializing people without feeling cramped. Thirdly I wanted a kitchen that promoted socializing with guests even if they were standing in other rooms of the apartment. Fourth, I wanted a kitchen that had a few little hints of my whimsical geeky side. Living Room Home Theater, This is the Living Room / Home Theater of my Brooklyn apartment. The home theater viewing wall features electronic drapes that open and close via remote control. The drapes are heavy King Blue velvet. The TV is a Hitachi 70" Rear Projection LCD. My Entry Foyer, This is the entry foyer of my Brooklyn, NY Apartment. The floor is tiled with White Carrara Marble, and the walls are sponge painted in blue and white. Master bathroom with vintage touch, This is a newly constructed master bathroom. I went with a vintage feel using hexagon tiles on shower floor and adding a claw foot tub. Dark beadboard cabinetry, glass knobs and carrara marble counters. I was inspired by a recent stay at Watch Hill's newly rebuilt Oceanhouse Hotel in Rhode Island.

SMALL BATHROOM SOLUTIONS, So you're renting, and the bathrooms aren't quite the same size as what you use to have? Lack of storage space? Lack of wall space? Just lack of space - period? Here's a few small changes I made to one of our now small bathrooms. In our FL townhome before, we had 2 and a 1/2 bathrooms, offering both space + storage. Now we've gone to two, probably equally the size of our master bathroom before. A small space transformation like this can be done in a day. It's simple enough for a rental, or even a home staging if you need to sell. If you're looking for a simple weekend project for your home, this would be a great project to do, plus maybe add stencil or stripes to the walls for extra wow.
