I have a good size full bathroom on my 2nd floor, and wanted to add some modern touches without doing a complete make over. First, I removed the flat ceiling and added a vaulted ceiling. I was able to do this because above the bathroom I have a full walk up attic. This did not take up much attic space at all. I added pendent lighting, new mirror, toilet, and bathtub. I also installed ceramic tile in the bathtub area and added recessed shelves along with small recessed lighting on the opposite side. I thought about adding a vessel sink, the ones I priced out, were just more money than I wanted to spend. I plan to sell the house in the near future, so I did not want to get into an expensive remodel. Modern light switches are a great touch that are very inexpensive. I also added a tile back splash behind the sink and above my extra cabinet area. My friend and I completed the project ourselves and saved alot of money. The vanity, and countertops are existing and I did not want to install new ones, because I knew that would cost more, and they are in great shape, so why spend the extra money. I know that it is not all glamorous, but its what I like.
