A quick fix for those ugly kitchen cabinets, This was the 80's kitchen when we first moved in. As you can see, the cabinets make you wanna gag. We didnt have the money right away to put in new ones so I decided to paint them. I thought they couldnt possibly get any worse... This was over a year ago and they are still intact no problems. So painting your laminate cabinets is possible!!!

Fireplace Too Big??, I think this fireplace is way too huge for the living room. Any ideas on how to make it appear smaller? Such as a trick of the eye? To give you an idea how tall it is, I'm 5'6 and even standing on my tiptoes I can barely see the top of the mantel. The highest point of the ceiling is 10 feet.

Im sure looking at my photos you would think I have other problems to worry about besides the size of the fireplace. LOL. Thing is, I can only do one thing at a time, and right now this happens to be what is bugging me (may not be the story next week, who knows, and I'll be bothered by something else). I feel, however, that a few changes to it may be something simple I'm not catching onto and wont require a lot of money (I am a bit frugal). , Living Rooms Design

Master bathroom with vintage touch, This is a newly constructed master bathroom. I went with a vintage feel using hexagon tiles on shower floor and adding a claw foot tub. Dark beadboard cabinetry, glass knobs and carrara marble counters. I was inspired by a recent stay at Watch Hill's newly rebuilt Oceanhouse Hotel in Rhode Island.

SMALL BATHROOM SOLUTIONS, So you're renting, and the bathrooms aren't quite the same size as what you use to have? Lack of storage space? Lack of wall space? Just lack of space - period? Here's a few small changes I made to one of our now small bathrooms. In our FL townhome before, we had 2 and a 1/2 bathrooms, offering both space + storage. Now we've gone to two, probably equally the size of our master bathroom before. A small space transformation like this can be done in a day. It's simple enough for a rental, or even a home staging if you need to sell. If you're looking for a simple weekend project for your home, this would be a great project to do, plus maybe add stencil or stripes to the walls for extra wow. Half Bath Remodel, Bath vanity custom built from scratch with maple hardwood. Installed mosaic tile counter top with top mount sink.
