The best decision u made was painting the furniture. It's really striking now. BUT I think that's all you needed. I would have gotten plain white pin-tuck bedding like they have on west elm's website (you can find it cheaper, too That would've been it. Less is more. You don't need anything patterned with a bed like that! I'd also lose the artwork-it's pretty elderly/country looking & doesn't go with the room. Instead of the blue, I would've used GRAY because blue/yellow combo is very country/dated; much more suited for a kitchen.I would paint all the walls gray and do a strip of the yellow slightly wider than the bed behind the headboard to really make it stand out both colors trimmed in white (use painters tape to create the lines I'd lose the valance on the window treatments & just keep the long drapery panels. I'd also get rid of the bed skirt. Put a SIMPLE, TAILORED, straight white one.

You did a terrific job. I love black furniture! I'd like to hear more about how you painted it and how it has held up. Did you sand it first? I have a couple of oak pieces I would love to paint but I just can't bring myself to do it! I wholeheartedly agree with the other posters about removing the bedskirt and valance. I would also paint the night stands black for continuity. I see that you were matching them to the blue/gray in the bedding, but it just doesn't work. I would also remove the art from over the bed. It's just too high. It would look nice if you were to paint the white frame black and hang one over each of the night stands. I agree you are on a real roll here and look forward to seeing an updated pic soon!

I agree 100% with what Decor Enthusiast said, especially about the bedskirt and the window valances. They are a bit too much and look a little homemade up there. I would use them to make shams and just let your drapes hang. Also, the bedside tables - I know they match one of the patterns in the bedding, but for me the file cabinet gray just isn't working. I would have also painted them black.

Good job! I only have two issues: if you're going to expose the side rails on the bed you don't need a bedskirt. If you love the bedskirt, let it cover the rails. The shams as a valance don't work - proportion is off. I think I'd rather just see your black trimmed panels. Maybe you can use the shams to make throw pillows when you get the sofa. The lamps will make a big difference - saw where you intend to replace them. You're on a roll here and I will look for updatse when you finish.
