The room is so restful, and I think the sewing machine adds just the right feminine touch, along with nostalgia. As far as mixing Early American and French provincial, at least they both are from the 18th century. I am sure 18th-century people had to "make do" with both styles of furnishings, and I think the mixture adds a bit of whimsy and practicality. You did a wonderful job! I would not change a thing.

i adore this room! and your ideas and creativity are more than inspiring....i was over there re-reading your kitchen redo for the millionth time, and saw you had this french bedroom post........i love all your captions and the explanations of how you did it all, and that is so interesting about the christening gown....i have my g.g.grandmother's sewing machine, handed down to me by my grandmommy, and she also gave me their bedroom set, which is in this same dark stain......i've been trying to do a ''frenchy feel'' in our master bedroom with this same type of set....i think your colonial dresser looks adorable there, even though the style may be ''american..the color of the stain is more than french in color/feel and it adds to the charm of the french country, which is a collected look consisting of heirlooms passed down for many generations.....i think it warms up the space really nicely....the chair/suitcases/chandelier are perfect! love your curtains too, you did great!....

Beautiful job. Your room reflects so much love and memories. I love all the sweet vignettes throughout the room. The one thing I would reconsider is the buffet lamps on the bedside tables. They are pretty, but not very functional as a bedside lamp.

Point well taken. Maybe I should revise my style to Early American French Country as I don't have anything a little more French, just used what I had. I did consider painting and distressing the furniture but too hot in Tennessee for that right now.

Sweet room! As a former French teacher, I'm not going to grade your French, but I do think you need to replace the Early American style dresser with something "un peu plus" French! Excellent stitching!
