Rug is cute but it is small for space. I know they arent super cheap so to minimize size defiency i I would suggest a white chair rail, cheap and easy. Then paint yellow in bottom half. If you paint your furniture white it will modernize it. Make a window seat cushion in a stripe fabric that has the colors of your rug and add accent pillows stencil words like yummy, eat, dine (you get the drift add some decorative place mats i would do round woven ones and maybe three square clear containers with colorful flowers down the center (4 inch square with natural stone as filler (dollar store . You could re-purpose the wreath by cutting one side and placing it around your light fixture. I would lose the corner cabinet it's to short look for something a bit taller and paint it a shinny color. It will be bright and happy, Bon appetite

I agree the rug is too small for the dining area. It makes the room look smaller and chopped up. I would repurpose it elsewhere for sure.

You have a lot of nice things to work with. Could you hang the rug on the wall opposite the window? It might take a little doing but with a little research you could probably figure it out. I would take the wreath apart and use the flowers in a some other creative way.
Maybe you could paint the light fixture the same color as the walls, only a shade lighter or darker. Put something really striking, low and long on the table, like an old thick piece of wood with holes drilled into it to put candles or maybe your yellow flowers along with twigs.
Paint the little side table/cabinet the same peachy red as the flowers or white. Try to bring in some more white to match the curtains- in flowers, or table mats, etc. Loose the fake greenery. Bring in a $10 palm tree from Walmart or something dramatic that will bring some heighth to the room. Look aroung the house and see what else might work in here. It looks like a window seat - maybe some more pillows to match your colors could go there.

The wall color and the wood tone of the dining set don/t seem to match well. The room seems to be missing something buffet wall decor.

Love the rug, but it is too small. Dining table rugs need to extend wider and longer than the table by 24" on every side. Wreath should be hung so that, if it were on the other side, it would cover the light switch. I think I'd be looking for a bigger rug for the dining room. Ttry to find another place for this one and the wreath. Do you have a foyer where they could set this colorful tone as people enter your home?
