Kudos to you for doing the work yourselves and saving money! We do a lot of the work in our home ourselves, too. I love what you did in your kitchen. In the dining room, I actually preferred the old paint color. Your dark furniture stood out more. If you can, I would switch out some pieces for lighter colored items. Bottom line, you and your hubby did a fantastic job!

Very pretty. Since it is such a large room and has so much dark furniture, you should try to incorporate more accent lighting around the room. A couple of floor lamps, a small decorative lamp on the hutch. Also, you might want to consider a runner on the table in a lighter fabric to bring the eye to the table. Change out the candles to white ones.

I'm sorry but the art piece does not go with the decor or the wall color.

Add some ivy or other trailing type plant to the top of the hutch and if you can, incorporate some type of light up there to shine on the wall. I don't know if you have an outlet behind that piece or even close by.

I can't really see the decor on the corner piece and that tells me the decor is too dark for the piece. You need items that will show up against your dark furniture and dark walls.

I can't see the detail on your chair covers, do you think recovering the chairs would add a nice touch? Something that would match your drapes.
