Just a area rug. Great all else.

Here's the issue; You have a PASTEL green on the wall & a JEWEL tone burgundy on the drapery. If you want to stay with burgundy (garnet go with a jeweltone on the wall like a topaz or golden in a lighter or medium shade. Other wise this color scheme will always be like Christmas! You could go dark Hunter Green like an emerald (jewel but again, Christmas-remember the original Home Alone Movie house?? Go to rugs-direct.com to see Shaw KIMONO rug which says ivory but it's got a gold-tone to it with a bit of burgundy in it-very nice & not overly traditional. A much-needed horizontal framed art over the buffet like at art.com the Vino Nobile in a SIMPLE frame since the furniture is very ornate. I think the buffet lamps are fine, just move the canister to the right a bit so it's not so TOO balanced! The furniture is GORGEOUS!!

I definitely agree that you need a new wall color, something richer. You can stay with the green but make it more a dark sage/light hunter green color. An area rug will help keep scuff marks off your hardwood floors, but you can also put pads on the bottom of the chairs

I agree a nice area rug. Also try a heavier looking drapery rod

Lovely furniture and floor. A large, traditional style area rug would really give the room a finished look. The intense red drapes against a pastel color on the walls somehow just doesn't do it. Depending on what you do about a carpet, perhaps the drapes or paint color could be changed to hues of equal intensity. Good luck.
