I've seen a lot of gardens (was a Master Gardener years ago but you have the BEST gardens I have seen anywhere, ever!! Can't stop looking at them!

I don't know if you're still checking your space, but could you please tell us something about how long it took you to do this whole masterpiece? Did you start small and then just keep going? or did you have the whole thing planned out in the beginning? Like others have said, it is what I envision for my yard, but when you are looking at a big stretch of nothing but sod... Thank you for showing us your lush, beautiful yard. Thanks so much for sharing. Little areas are so great. Can you tell me what is in that hanging basket? Is it a succulent? Almost looks like two of them.

Zone 5. I can get away with a few zone 6 plants, but about every three years a long hard sub zero freeze will wipe them out. Then it's just a new opportunity.

The small tree you are asking about is a service berry. Amelanchier. I'm not sure what variety. But yes you can keep them small. They come single and multi-stemmed. They are covered in white clouds of flowers in the spring followed by soft red berries you can eat if the robins don't pick them clean before you do. They taste a little reminiscent of blueberries.

Can't get enough of looking at your oasis. What is the small tree in the foreground next to the concrete pillar to the left? It looks like it does not get too large, I am looking for something to plant in my side yard about that size.
