What FUN! I can just imagine the smile on your face as you were decorating this adorable cottage! Your fun spirit just shines through! Did you get snow yesterday? Thanks for leaving the "one and only" comment on the pix I posted yesterday of our log home. I haven't posted any pix in 3 years now! Yikes! Of course, we all know it takes a lot of work to remove the junk from the tops of kitchen counters and coffee tables so everything is more photogenic : Happy New Years to you dear!

Hydrangea heaven, After the winter that we had, I didn't expect to have many hydrangea blooms this summer. Was I wrong! I had blooms on bushes that had never bloomed before...blue, pink, violet...mophead, lacecap, oakleaf. Too bad the summer turned HOT and the blooms fried and turned brown after only a few short weeks :-( They were pretty while they lasted, and I hope that the rebloomers will treat me to a few more colorful shows., Gardens Design

Roses are red (and pink...and yellow) , The rose garden has been a VERY slow project with many challenges. It's sited in the sunniest place on our property, but still gets only about 4 hours of sun. That coupled with lots of humidity, fungal diseases are rampant. I don't like to use toxic chemicals, so I'm trying roses that tolerate more shade and are more disease resistant. Also, I'm in the process of replacing the mulched paths with pea gravel... as in the English garden style that I love., Gardens Design

Faeryhollow Christmastide, We had an old-English themed Christmas this year in Faeryhollow. The English country/Victorian style that I favor really set the stage for our celebration. We had a rare white Christmas (think blizzard) here in the mountains. We kept a roaring fire in our fireplace and enjoyed the aroma of a fresh Frazier fir and simmering wasail as we kept warm inside. , Holidays Design

Faeryhollow's Spring Primrose Path, We've had another enchanted Spring in our mountain cove that we call Faeryhollow. My potting shed, Crickhollow Cottage, and Mrs. McGregor's Tool Shed are surrounded by cottage garden blooms - primroses, forget-me-nots, tulips, lily-of-the-valley, columbine, and more. A Kwanzan cherry tree stands like an oversized pink parasol beside the cottage. Lilac blooms and pink hyacinths perfume the warm Spring breezes, and the wood thrush has begun to sing his flute notes at dawn and dusk. , Gardens Design
