A well made and charming kitchen. To freshen the look, prime and paint the wood walls, a lot of work, but would brighten the whole room. Just scrub down and polish the cabinets and add new hardware. The floor looks in good condition so just clean well and use a polish for no wax floors. The whole look will be brighter, and newer looking without losing the charm

Treasure! Keep the stove! I had one like that once in a house we had and it was my favorite stove ever! Ther is so much room to cook with a 36" stove.

Ok....heres what you do.Add crown molding at the top.Ok now you did that add super thin wood to frame out each door super thin ok but somewhat wide.Ok now paint all that white and add nice hardware...it will look awesome! Treasure! Definitely. The cabinets and fixtures are adorable. If you were looking to freshen it up, I would suggest recessed lighting and under the counter lighting. Perhaps a new floor, maybe a wide board white washed wood, or a light cream colored tile.

Paint the cabinets----white or walnut, it's all a personal preference. Invest a little in hidden hinges either way you go. That is more labor than dollars since you have to fill the holes. Update the cabinet hardware to whatever you like. Keep the floor. It looks to be in good shape and adds character. Update the backsplash- typically inexpensive no matter what you choose since it's a small "area". And paint the wood paneling any color you like---just treat it like you would any wall, and of course primer it first!!!!!!! This is an inexpensive beauty in disguise!!!!!!!!! It's a treasure IMO!

I hope no one says it is "trash" instead of "treasure." I like your attitude lisa929. So many people have beautiful kitchens and do not seem the least happy with them. Sometimes I can not see anything wrong with the kitchen posted and then the after photo shows up and I think, "Wow, what was wrong with the before kitchen!" Your kitchen is vintage, albeit still cozy in it's own unique way.
