This 1959 kitchen needed to be updated badly, Had two layers of linoleum, a broken stove top and cabinets with many layers of liner paper and was just NOT a cute kitchen. Plus, we wanted to open it up to make the small dining room feel more open. It took us about five months to do it. We did everything except electrical, building cabinets (though my husband spent a month painting them and installing granite. Total project cost was about $11k. We still need the backsplash and curtains but are having a REALLY hard time finding something that works. Plus, a baby came along :
