My husband and I fell in love with our contemporary cape's rustic appeal and large wooded lot in upstate New York the moment we saw it, but were not blind to the love and attention the property desperately needed. The kitchen had a significant amount of water damage from a plumbing leak and many cabinets were in need of repair. We set out to design a transitional craftsmen style kitchen that would be a more efficient use of space and better serve our needs. With some help from family and friends, we took 3 weeks this summer to build our dream kitchen. The new space works so well, I can't remember how I functioned in the old one!
