My 70s kitchen had gold honeycomb tile, home-made grainy oak cabinets, white laminate countertops, and carpet.
My original plan was to do an inexpensive facelift to last a few years until I could gut the whole thing. After removing the tile, refinishing the cabinets, installing a new light fixture, and installing hardwood floors all for under $500, I was so pleased with the results that I splurged on granite countertops and no longer plan to gut the kitchen!
I'm a 47 year old woman and I did most of this work myself!
