You've posted this picture and question before, so you obviously hate this tile floor and should replace it. You're worried a wood floor will darken the room and it will look all brown. Correct. What you dislike is the busy-ness of the pattern and the dark grout [I agree - too much.] Replace the tile with a tad darker natural stone, such as a warm travertine or something similar. Then warm up the walls with a matching paint.

You are in the same boat as I am. I hated my tile so bad last week I had my son chissel it out. What a nightmare. I will never do that again. Now I am living on plywood because I don't know what to put down....hardwood is a lot of wood and as I read reviews it scratches and water is bad for it. I don't want tile again. It's soo cold and hard..Im now researching a vinyl plank floor called Karndean. It's very expensive but reviews seem so good. Not sure what I will do but I'll live on my plywood until then. You can tile over tile if you decide to tile.

I would replace the floor with a tile you love. I want to say slate but that would be dark and sometimes you get an argyle look I don't like.

I wish there was a cushioned vinyl floor that looked good. Sooo much more comfortable then tile.

Your home is beautiful. I checked your other posts and I am amazed at all you have done with your other rooms. I agree that if you choose to install hardwoods they should be the same as the rest of the house. You have a LOT of wood in the kitchen already but it can be toned down with rugs and painted walls , etc. I say: go for it!

I like the light tile. It is a nice contrast with your cabinets.
