Thank you for your compliment about my kitchen. I think your kitchen looks really good and I love the old back door. If you want to change anything out, I would agree with Susie's suggestion to add a vented micro over the range to get back more counter space. Other than that, I actually like the color of the cabinets, but a white is always a good choice, too. I used Dove White on my cabinets. Good luck!

Kelly, Your kitchen is very cute! It is small, but the clean uncluttered look allows you to get the most of your space. I would suggest clearing off the top of the fridge to neaten up that space to match the rest of the kitchen. I agree with Spadelady's suggestion to wait till you own the house to do anything more substantial. After you own it, investing in an over-the-range microwave oven would clear up that counter-space near the sink. I really like Decor Enthusiast's suggestion of adding a window film to block the view through the door, but still let in light. All in all, this is a very nice kitchen!

Good call, Barbara Bee, with the photos for the landlord. He's a pretty laid back guy. I've already spruced up this place so much inside and out. I just do whatever I want anymore-I stopped asking since my taste is pretty mainstream and any change would be an improvement compared to what he had. No one gave this house any love in the past 50 years. But I heart it lots.

I would definitely paint the cabinets white. It would update and freshen this kitchen and also compliment its era. But I would go armed with photos of befores/afters to your landlord of the amazing re-do's even uploaded here with painted cabinets. Color print them and show him how beautiful it will look.

I understand the "nesting" urge but untill you own the house I'd not do anything unless the owner takes it off the rent. Be content w/your own decor.

I think white cabinets would be good. Try putting some interesting windfow film over that back porch door to block that view.
