The brown and white look great together. I think the cabinets were probably removed from another kitchen and someone tried to make them fit this kitchen with a different layout. There are a few things that can be done to minimize the oddness of the fit. First, move the cabinet from over the window and put it above the refrigerator where it belongs. Get a gap-filler trim piece to connect that cabinet with the long one next to it. Next, fill in the large awkward space above the stove cabinets by building and installing a box of drywall or wood. Connect with gap-filler wood trim. Trim that whole side of ceiling edges with crown moulding. Paint the box, fillers, and moulding white to blend with the cabinets. A shiny white backsplash would add a lot to the kitchen, too, as would pretty-patterned valances. Almost there... great start!

I personally think it's a bit too much brown on the walls, dark and saturated. But a good remedy for that is to add a white Subway tile backsplash. It would kick up this kitchen a lot of notches. A painted backsplash looks unfinished. I agree about closing those gaps between the cabinet and ceiling. The cabinet installer didn't finish his work in that regard so call him back.

I took out the rug and changed up the table a little. I will be putting new updated pictures up soon!

I would have taken all the cabinets to the ceiling but to finish off the look now you should add moulding to close the gaps between cabinets and ceiling. Think about removing the rug under the table. Unless you have room for all three chairs to still be on the rug when people push them away and sit at the table, your rug is too small. Since you may not have room for an adequate rug, none would look better. Find something pretty to hang on the wall above the table and keep your eye open for good looking and colorful valances to cheer up the space. Just need some little finishing touches to complete this reno.
