I love the tomato red walls and the way they combine with the warm tones in the floor tiles. The wall and floor colors also contrast nicely with the cream-colored cabinets and back splash. I think it would be a mistake to make the walls a neutral color. Also, I like the feminine touches of the classic cabinets paired with the bold Mexican colors and wrought iron hardware. Spanish design often mixes feminine accessories with the bold, masculine, or rustic. I think your kitchen is just about perfect as it is. You might make a valance of scalloped black lace, like a mantilla, and use that as a window treatment. It really would complete your Mexican theme.

Wonderful individual elements. Not sure how to make the cabs and countertops work with the rustic floor though..maybe with some orange-red, blue, and yellow textiles and pottery. Might try a golden yellow on teh walls...

I also like this kitchen and when you add the few details with decor and color, it will tie it all together. I wouldn't go too "themey" with hanging chili peppers etc. But some herbs in terra pots, a big colorful Mexican cermic bowl of fruit, a colorful rug in front of the sink,...

Do you need window treatments for privacy? Why not just opt for hanging bunches of dried chilis, garlic cloves, flowers and herbs? That's what they actually have hanging in sunny kitchen windows in Mexico. They add color, fragrance and are useful in everyday cooking. I love what you've done in this kitchen. I actually like the ceiling red. It draws the eye up and contrasts with the cabinet color.

I don't think this flows very well. The floor is totally opposite in style and color than the counter and backsplash. The floor is lovely if the counters worked better with it.

I think Jane Lockhart from Color Confidential would suggest a yellow for your ceiling, also find a print with the red, yellow & other color from your tile to tie in for your window treatments.

I need help figuring out window treatments. Any suggestions? Also, I think the red ceiling is a bit too much so I'm thinking of repainting the ceiling to a creamy white (a little lighter than the cabinets.
