I think your kitchen and cabinets are beautiful the way they are. Very warm and inviting. I would not paint them white. Try darker knobs on the cabinets to tie in the black island. I don't like the blue wall. It looks better lighter. Try higher watt bulbs or add recess lighting for more light.

Thank you so much for all of the great feedback. Definitely going to paint the cabinets. Now just have to decide what shade of white! Thinking this is not a DIY for me, would be very time consuming. Excited to Lighten and Brighten the space!! Thank you RMS!

I agree with everyone else.....a nice creamy white....but we want to see the results too!!!

Painting them to match the woodwork would pull the room together and lighten it up. Please post before and after pictures no matter what you decide! Anxious to see the choice!

I would paint the cabinets white, will make a brighter look and match the rest of the trim and woodwork. Very nice layout!

Darker stain will only make the room cave-like. Painting a creamy white will refresh and bring the kitchen to life!

I would definately paint the cabinets white to match the rest of the existing trim woodwork in your home. I noticed that another poster commented that you'd have to sand your cabinets before you paint them. That isn't true if you use chalk paint, then wax the cabinets afterwards. Research this type of treatment. Chalk paint is a little more expensive to begin with, but you use less paint in the long run. Then when you wax the cabinets after you paint them, the paint is sealed and is waterproof. Cece Caldwell and Annie Sloan and two brands that I've heard of and they come in a variety of colors. Check it out!

Definitely paint them...you won't be sorry. It will brighten your kitchen dramatically and the black island will be a nice contrast.

I would go with white/cream. You know, the black island looks great, you might want to put some more black accents. Pretty house!
