My pretty kitchen in my rented home. I can't take too much credit because it was already pretty to begin with. the kitchen is very open to the dining and family room, so I tried to throw in a bit more color to tie it in with the rest of the home. I added the red lampshades, the storage under the island, and accessories. I do cook some, but I'm a single mom to 3 picky eaters so it's mostly pbj, cereal, spaghtetti, etc. LOL! Such a shame, I know.

Family Living, Single mom to 3 kids so I try to make my home very kid friendly. Leather sofas, leahter ottoman, (not pictured, but there's now a digital piano in front of the window where the bench is) cheap pillows that I'm always picking up off the floor, shelves filled with kids movies and books. I can lift up the shades during the day, and not worry about the kids bending or breaking blinds. This house is tucked away in a lot of trees, and the kids like looking out and seeing the squirrels and rabbits running across our yard. Boys Love Color Too, My boys' colorful big boy room. They are 5 and 4. The room is a little small, but we made it work. They like all of the colors. I like the cheeriness. I painted the union jack dresser on a whim, after seeing one on Pinterest. I made the transportation wall art (after seeing them on Land of Nod), and painted the letters for their previous nursery. The lamps came from the Goodwill. I saw some similar at Target, so I bought these and painted them a matching yellow from their original brass color. I bought the Metro map since we moved here from Maryland. I was able to frame it pretty cheaply using the "build-a-frame" frame end pieces at Michaels, and having Lowe's cut the glass to size (less than $15) , Boys' Rooms Design

An Island for Dining, This kitchen is probably pretty plain but I always loved this table island. We've actually sat 5 chairs here. I wish we had set the tiles diagonally or had ever got around to backsplashing. And yes the stupid builder off-centered the light. We never fixed it because we planned to replace it with 3 pendant lights. Now we're moving and I'll really miss that table but I won't miss mopping that floor. , Kitchens Design

Little Girl's Courtyard, This tiny backyard area used to be all grass between our townhouse and detached garage. We wanted an outdoor space for our then 2 year old (now 5) to play besides going to the park and she wanted a playhouse. We purposefully matched the pavers to the playhouse. We left little beds for my daughter to garden which she's very faithful about taking care of. A really bad storm washed away some of the front flowers but it filled back in. , Patios & Decks Design

Room for Sleep and Play, I've commented on others' spaces so I figured it's only fair to post one also. I took these pics of my 5 year old's room shortly after moving in so it was not completely finished in them and I forgot to take updates. It's presently all packed up in boxes. transitional/Contemporary/minimalist kitchen makeover(before & after), cookie cutter track home got a major overhaul from floor to ceiling. Kitchen is on the small side and the short cabinets made the room feel even smaller. original yellow oak cabinets ,white tile countertops and recessed fluorescent lights from early 2000. Lacked personality and style and very ugly to say the least.

50's Cozy Cottage Kitchen, Our kitchen space is cute, but old. The cabinets have been repainted many times. The floor is uneven because of multiple layers of linoleum. The appliances need replacing. Something is leaking between the fridge and dishwasher and we don't know which so we keep a towel underneath the fridge to soak up the water coming from somewhere. The bar/pantry is so deep, things get lost and you never see them again. The bar really isn't a bar it's a "catch-all" and we need more space!! , Kitchens Design

Open concept, This is a 2 bedroom apartment above our garage that my husband and I have almost finished. He fought me on the white cabinets wanting a rustic feel and I wanted some contrast from the dark hardwood floors and pine ceiling. I'm so happy with the end result, and so is he. Total Transformation, The kitchen prior to renovations was a Galley kitchen with a pass through to the formal dining room on one side and then had a breakfast nook on the other side. There was a wall between the breakfast nook and an indoor patio.

I decided to knockdown the wall between the breakfast nook and the indoor patio and then close up the pass through to the formal dining room. I then transformed the formal living room into an office and placed my dining room furniture where the breakfast nook used to be. The kitchen has a huge bar that you can sit at so there is no need for a breakfast nook anymore.

This created a giant living/dining/kitchen area. , Kitchens Design
