My large kitchen flows diagonally into a small (14 'x 10') hearth room. I will be replacing the wood floor in kitchen with a large neutral ceramic tile. My dilemma is how to divide the floor from room to room because I will be keeping the wood floor in the hearth room. We have water damage on floor in the kitchen where we are replacing but the floor in hearth room is beautiful and in great condition. I think I have two options. 1. To run the tile all the way to the back door that leads in and out of hearth room and dividing the rooms in a straight line somehow being careful to line up to the back window beside the back door or 2. Divide the rooms diagonally from each other. If I do this, I feel like I need to have a differentiating divider like a column on each corner of the dividing line two make the division aesthetically pleasing since the line is on a diagonal. I hope this makes sense. I would appreciate any suggestions on lighting over kitchen island and table. Please help with your ideas. Thank you so much!
