I agree that blue is not a bad color choice, although I would probably go a few shades lighter, or a light green might be nice, too. If you can afford to change the counter tops to give a little more contrast, I would probably consider that. As for the floors: I would go with a wood like tile, they have the most beautiful options these days that are quite affordable, too. It would tie in nicely with the rustic feel of a lake house, plus tile is super durable and easy to clean. The biggest problem I see in this room is the dining area. It looks super crammed and dark. I would choose a round table that can still be pushed up against the wall, if necessary, and seat 4 comfortably. Since the kitchen cabinets are white, I would go with a white table and white chairs with colorful seat cushions or even some colorful chairs. Lastly: The ceiling fan needs to go. It looks really dated and out of place. Add some recessed lighting and a light fixture/chandelier over the dining area.

Frankly, I like the blue/white color scheme for a lake house. That part already seems perfect. However, the flooring should be a ceramic tile for durability and it will definately withstand any flooding, etc. The corner where that rustic cabinet now stands is the perfect spot for a built-in banquette for your table, then paint your table white to match everything. Change out just the light kit in the ceiling fan to one that directs the light up instead of down. Accessorize with a nautical theme - think boat lanterns, signal flags, nets, buoys, oars or fishing rods as curtain rods, etc.
