Although BarbaraBee and I are usually in agreement most of the time, I can see from this and other posts that you've elected to retain the original woodwork in your 1922 bungalo. I'm encouraging you to stick with it. You'll see my post on photo 4. While white does look nice in these old restorations, your woodwork is wonderful and furniture is an easy fix. Yes, you might cover the sofas as she suggested, or not. I think your kitchen is the only issue and I would check out www.rustoleumtransformations.com to see if their new cabinet product could bring your cabinets more in line with the color of your woodwork throughout the house. If you can get it darker, then I would consider trying it on your oak dining room set. Best option for the dining though would be to replace the set with an antique one from the 20's. If you google for "images 1920's bungalo" you may find some inspiration.

I like your room, I think it is very cozy and inviting... I like the wall units on either side of the fireplace, are they built in? I think the way you arranged the pieces on top of the cabinetry is very nice too! The only thing I might do is pick an accent color for throw pillows, maybe red (? and drape something colorful off the corner of the couch to match, just to brighten it up a bit.

I give you kudos for not mounting the TV above the fireplace. Although this room is nice, I don't feel it's reached its full potential. It looks a bit dark and drab. I know it's monumental, but if the built ins were painted white it would pop and flow with the fireplace. The wall color looks a bit too dark and the sofa blends with the rug. That's a good sized rug so too expensive to replace, therefore I would white slipcover the sofas. That may be all this room needs.
