The color scheme flows very well. I do think that a bigger rug would look better though and maybe a coffee table that is an ottoman would be more inviting. That glass table is just not trendy. I do like the set up and those feathery stick things... it's different. :

Rather than getting a larger photo above the couch just add some sconces to each side with colorful candles. The space doesnt feel very warm, so i would suggest add some textured pillows to the couch and/or chair. Adding a plant would bring warmth into the room also, and the space is big enough to handle all of the additions ive just mentioned without looking too cluttered.

Rug is too small although pretty, and a design crime as only the coffee table gets to enjoy it. You need at least and 8 x 10 in this room or larger. The arrangement in the corner looks too much like an Indian Headdress so I would eliminate that along with the fake ficus which is very 80's. But honestly if your rug was the right size, everything would look so much better, so long as the headdress wasn't fanned out.

IMO a larger rug is needed. Love the colors but it does not fit the space. Drapes will soften the room, as will throws and pillows. I agree that different tables are needed as the sharp edges seem too harsh for the comfy sectional. I like the large feather spray, but think it needs to be more clustered as opposed to completely open. Love your big space! The walls and floors look great!

I would replace the coffee table with a big round one. And to soften the look,I'd add some blue/teal pillows and a throw. Otherwise great.

You have a beautiful and spacious room for your family. I think you should first enlarge the area rug (the legs of the sectional should rest on the rug. This might encourage family and guests to sit on the floor for movies and games. Change your glass tables for three cubes or tables laid out in an L shape to follow the curve of your sectional. Also choose something sturdy enough for putting up your feet. To warm up all that leather, add lots of pillows and throws in warm colors. And don't go too small with the pillows--some should be 24 x 24. Stack three matching floor pillows nearby. For the art above the sofa, choose something with bright tones. Instead of one large piece, create a collage of prints, architectural items and mirrors that look as if they could have been collected over time. At the side of the sectional add a table with a lamp. Replace the artificial tree with a nice floor lamp. Finally, add real live plants. Hope this helps. Have fun!

Nice start! Don't care for the "feathery" thing. The ficus might look better by the wall to the left of the door & the two wall pieces hung elsewhere together or flanking your big piece, centered on the wall behind the sectional.Your rug has the right colors but is not large enough for the space. You can get some huge and stylish indoor and outdoor ones at homedecorators.com for very reasonable prices. Needs to be at least double the size of this one. Softening & warming with drapery panels would be part of the basic picture for me. Floors and paint look good. You're getting a little bit squarish with things, so I'd consider an oval or round coffee table. Needs wood for warming so look for wood casegoods. Glass, metal and leather tend to be cold. Assume everything is facing a tv - maybe you have wood there. Would love to see other angles. Will you post more?
