Melrose 80, UGH I completely agree about the fireplace wall. For whatever reason, that wall in particular is a complete mess [85-yr-old plaster] so dark color works best to hide all that. Until we're able to drywall, I'd like to do a nice grasscloth wallpaper, or maybe something with a cool design.. it's on my to-do list! :]

Decor Enthusiast, I love the huge clocks, lol!! :] Actually seeing so many on this site is what turned me on to them! :] Guess it's just a matter of differing tastes. It's funny you mention the knowing what time it is thing though, because I've thought several time since I put it up, how nice it is having a super easy way to read the clock, lol! [Especially at the kids' bedtime, haha] The lampshades are actually a tan color; they showed up a lot lighter in the pics. I probably should've taken these during the day! :]

Beautiful, cozy room. I love the pops of red here and there, and how the cover of the desk chair matches the cover on some of the throw pillows. I love the contrast wall, the clean, white curtains and the greens (natural and in the furniture everywhere. 5 stars!

You're doing a fine job here. Congrats. Okay, if I were to disagree with anything, it would be the color on the fireplace wall. I believe the whole room would benefit by changing it to the color on the other walls.

Love your trunk! You might consider having a custom piece of glass cut for the top of it if you don't actively access stuff in it. Cozy room could be cozier with some warmer colored lampshades. Larger lamps would be an improvement, but you are making a good effort to light the room well and with balance. Colors very soothing - greens are in my bedroom, kitchen and living - so I like! FP is well done, although I don't get these huge clocks I see used on this site a lot. I think people are afraid of choosing the wrong art and clocks seem safe. Or maybe they really have no other way to know what time it is. I think I'd switch the clock and the mirror over your desk, hanging it vertically at the FP. Good job and looks well put together with the DR.
