Unintentionally we picked purple as the focal point color and worked our way with it. It has taken us a while to feel comfortable with it, but I think we are almost there.

I am currently painting my bedroom walls purple and doing one of the walls striped. What kind of paint did you use to create that little bit of sheen to the lighter shade of stripe?

It all works for me except the throw back chandelier. I think some modern floor lamps that sweep over the space, or even can lights or track lights would complete the updated look. Love the purple wall with the stiped painting technique! Well done!

I think the color purple was a brillent idea for the wall, maybe add a few brigter color throw pillow on the couch to brighten the room up a little.

Living Room, In my 1930's home, I've tried hard to integrate my modern taste with some of the traditional elements, such as the moldings and archways. In my living room, I used a sort of greige-ish hue to accent my red couch and chair. My coffee table is from my grandmother's farmhouse - freshened up with a coat of glossy black paint on the base.
