before giving advice on furniture placement, i feel the need to ask you, what specific purpose does this space need to fill? you state there is a family room elsewhere, which i assume is for hanging out and tv viewing. so i wonder if a tv is really necessary for this space, or if this should be a sitting room, or if the space could be utilized for something else....perhaps an office on the side where the tv is now? a library? and reading space? a secondary tv room for you...or the kids? a man cave? you have loads of options...more info will heed you more solid advice. :] it's a really nice space! you should use it for an actual purpose, so it will get used...there's nothing worse that having an unused, wasted space in your home! ;]

Meant to add perhaps the area where the other couch is now could have a table and/or perhaps a seating area with the table, or perhaps something like a larger desk for use there and perhaps some of your plants could work there as well in front of that french doors.

cont. - I would take one of the colors from the fireplace and go lighter, if you wanted to stay neutral, perhaps a cream or beige or gray that is lighter than this color. I would work to unify the lighting in terms of types of overhead lighting, and have it more modern if working with the style of the furnishings. The pictures need to be lower and the windows look much better without the heavy swagged window treatments. A beautiful space, good luck!

I think the second couch in this area doesn't work. I think you need to get rid of one of the couches and treat the "L shape" room as two different seating areas, since they don't visually connect. In this area in front of the fireplace, I think you need chairs, either two or at the most three, with a small table as well, creating a small seating area to enjoy the fireplace and french doors. In the other area, if you want to keep the one sofa that is in front of the entertainment/tv center, I think that works, but then you should have a chair on the wall side in front of the window to create more of a whole conversation, seating area and perhaps can also have a chair on the other side if space permits as well in order to have a whole seating area. You need to get rid of one of the couches. The wall color appears too dark and drab. cont.

I kind of figured the fireplace didn't have room in front of it for a sofa. Very odd layout to have a "fireplace foyer" area. You have such a unique house as I just saw the exterior you uploaded. I would try to get some professional advice on furniture placement from someone local as it's impossible to do with snapshots here. There are people who are professional stagers or will work with what you have to make the most of it and don't charge an arm and a leg.

The dinning room its upstairs with the kitchen and family room. where the fireplace is its just like a hallway where the foyer is and stairs to get upstairs. Yes a littile stumped I've been so thats why i need some help lol

Actually are you sure this entire L is supposed to be the living room and not a living room and dining room? In essence you have 2 living rooms here it's impossible to combine this into one room cohesively anyway. Do you have a dining room? If not I would sell a sofa and make a dining area in front of the fireplace.

Yes post more pictures but it looks like you already have roller shades on these windows. Why not take down one window treatment and post a picture allowing the other window also in the picture to compare 'before' & 'after'? We'll wait for a few more pictures of the room layout so we can help with furniture placement.

I have an L shaped living room, ill post another pic to show what im talking about. Thee was a place for an a tv so only place i could put couches is on wall. I didnt add any lamp shades cause i have so many lights in that room alone. They had put alot of lighting in the ceiling cause the man who owned it was a photographer. But I can use all types of help. thanks

Thanks for the advice, needed some. Trying to figure what do do. Most of the plants ae for outdoor purposes. Now the window issue. I have to put something up cause then itll be to open, but what????
