Yes, to most of the above, plus countrycurtains.com has lots of longer options to choose from, as well as shades. They'll let you sample fabrics for free. I think rod pockets with a heading are your most classic. You can use them with ring clips or thread them on a properly sized rod. Grommets are a bit industrial/contemporary and your FP has a country/antique feel to me. Can't see furniture or would make a more detailed suggestion on drapes. I would lower the mirror so it is 3-5" above the mantel and keep the three candles. Move pictures to a grouping on a side or sofa table.

I completely agree with Lilypad. Additional places to look for drapes would include J. C. Penney and Bed Bath & Beyond. Mount decorative rods almost to the ceiling and hang floor to ceiling panels, 2 on each window. Extend the rod a few inches past the window edges to visually widen the windows. You have the perfect set-up to use a layered effect, with natural shades for privacy, light control, & texture and the drapes on top to frame the windows and add a bit of drama. Order online to get drapes long enough. Most places don't carry anything except standard 84 inch long panels and you'll need 95 inch long. Ring clips or grommets look best. Stay away from tab tops, which are messy and dated. No valances, scarves, or tie backs, which are also dated. Stick with neutral like chocolate so as your tastes change, you can switch out toss pillows, etc. instead of the drapes which will be a bit of an investment if done right {each window can be done for $150.00 {100-drapes, 50-rod}.

I would go with floor to ceiling drapes...no scarf or valance which will make the space look dated. Check Pottery Barn, Ballards or Home Decorators online for ideas for draperies. All have a very good selection and variety of prices. Good luck and repost after you're done.
