I think I am going switch the sectional and the sofa table. So the sectional would go under the lage picture and the sofa table would go next to the window. (What should I hand above the sofa table when it is next to the window? Three cordinating pictures?, two floating shelves with nick nacks? I will remove the fake plants and all three "cheap" wooden book shelves. Then place two new "nice" large (black? book shelves on both sides of the fireplace. Should the new book shelves be floor to ceiling? Or should they sit just below the mantle with two large mirrors, one mirror above each shelf? I also want to add a lamp or two. But I'm not sure where. Maybe two on the sofa table after the holidays? Thank you for all your help. This room has been very difficult for me. :

I would reposition the sofas... place along the opposite wall, and since you have such large scale furniture i would move the 2 small stands out of the room. Perhaps you have furniture from another room you can put in the room.. like a tall or wide bookcase to display vases and things..flowers, a clock, a globe etc. to make the room seem more personal and cozy. The drapes should be replaced with wood blinds..because of the odd position of the window. i would place 2 bookshelves beside the fireplace to store the electronics

How about separating your sectional? Maybe place the loveseat portion under your picture on the opposite wall. It would balance the room better. Move the table currently under picture on other side of fireplace where taller bookcase is- swap sides and place bookcase next to window. Move smaller tower style bookcase somewhere else.like your colors. good luck!

The layout of your main sectional is good, but do you really need the corner piece? Perhaps you could get rid of it and add a side table there with a lamp since I noticed you don't have any lamps in your living room. Also, get rid of all the fake plants and their holders since they do nothing for the room. Can you move the large bookcase and the smaller, narrow bookcase next to each other on the wall to the left of the fireplace? That would eliminate the wires draped across the wall and create a more uniform look. Then place your Christmas tree in the kind of corner to the right of the fireplace (but not all the way back. Remove the blankets from the backs of your sofas and just drape them, folded, over one arm until you use them. After Christmas, look for a comfortable chair in a thrift store or on Craigslist to put in the corner where you have the Christmas tree next to the fireplace. Some additional artwork next to your gorgeous curtained window would be great, too.
