a nice space....although i do wish you had added more views and commented on what this space is used for and what it is that you don't love about it currently....the pieces you have are great and your home looks really lovely, but this area is alittle too bland, neutral and the dark red accents don't create any pop. if you want to make a change, go out and get a larger area rug in a brighter palette to better cozy it up and draw people to this area. of course the palette in here will need to coordinate with whatever area is adjacent to this one. then add some long straight hanging curtain panels to soften the window and some coordinating pillows, and play with furniture placement....sometimes simply creating assymetrical furniture arrangement adds instant interest and a more modern look. ;] keep us posted!

You have beautiful furnishings. I would add some more color to your space, maybe through draperies and pillows. Also the one pic on the wall isn't really doing much for the space;either add to it or replace it with something more substantial. Overall, your room is lovely. With some tweeking you will have the space you've always wanted!

First, it's a beautiful room with lovely pieces, and that is a great start. However, it feels really stiff and brown, it is almost as if there was a mirror running right down the center of the room. If I had my way with the room, I would move the furniture away from the walls. I would introduce one more vibrant color that could play well with the wine and the brown, and I would use it in one new lamp (replace one of the white ones and on some beautiful large pillows and maybe a throw. I would not let my pillows be neutral, I would use them to take a stab at expressing something a little unexpected about myself. And I would definitely put up a window treatment to soften and complete the room. No fake plants. One last little thing, I wouldn't let that little picture in the frame drown by its lonely self on that wall. I would get it some picture friends with frames that match.

What kind of advice are you looking for? Are you wanting other furniture placement ideas? You've only posted one pic, so it's kind of hard to get an idea of the entire room. However, I wouldn't have everything so symetrical. I probably would put the sofa under the large framed print, then the two wing chairs in the right corner with one of the tables in the actual corner between them. The other table would be on the end of the sofa - in other words the tables would stay where they are now. You would just be switching the sofa and the left chair. Then get rid of the coffee table and use the ottoman as your coffee table instead. Next, hang one long decorative wooden curtain rod across both windows and one straight burgundy curtain panel on either side of each window (to pick up the burgundy color from the ottoman. Be sure to hang the rod just above the arches of the windows - you're not going to be closing the curtains anyway - and the curtain panels must just touch the floor.
