The sofa sticking out in the door should be where the TV is, but I'm sure that is the only place with TV connections. If you could switch them the room would be better balanced. You need one nice big rug for the center of the floor to really ground everything! Love the fireplace and arched doors! The FP can carry itself as a focal point, so I'd remove the accessories - especially the picture nearly on the ceiling and play up the arch by tucking some lights around the curve of it. Then put something curvy or soft in the arch. I see you have 4 stars scattered around. This could be a 4-star room with some tweaking. Try mounting three of them under the mantel and put the 4th one away or use it another room. Keeping groupings in odd numbers is trick that helps the eye see balance in our decorating.

Hello ,there I see your style is early American and that is Ok. what I would like to see is under the TV. to put your DVD,S in a basket so it well look nice and neat,then what I would do is to tack all of the things off the mantle . then I would put a candelabra in the fire place with electric candels of different size and then you can turn them on when guess come over. tack the family picture & put it on one side of the mantel may be put the vase with the flowers in it & put it be hind the picture & angle the picture in front of it on the other side get three books of different size not to big & stand the star on top of it remember less is more. remove the candelabra from next to the F/P get a nice basket with a flower arrangement in it you can get one with summer flowers in it from AC.MOOR at a good price : & put it on the other side of the F/P so you wont crowd up the TV space .have fun make it you :
