Large room with tall ceilings, spacious windows with transoms overlooking wooded acreage. Curtains aren't needed, so an updated window dressing was in store. Found truly awesome cotton bowl garland on sale after Christmas along with some other high end evergreen garland. Suits my Mississippi Delta roots to a sweet tea!

OK, it's done (except for the swags!), I think we've got all the pieces in the right place, finally. Moved the mahogany game table to the left of the couch to balance the armoire. Pulled the round glass top between the chairs. Added a tall lamp without a shade to that table to give height. The rug is at a 45 degree angle which pulled the couch out from the sliding glass door wall and brought the seating area into the room for a cozier feel. When I recover from the rug ordeal, I'll tackle the swag drapery issue. Thanks for all the comments., Living Rooms Design

Christmas Mantle, 2009, Love this mantle shot because of the afternoon sun streaming in the westward exposure. You can guess where our roots are established by the picture on the wall. Can't grow real Mag. Grandiflora up here, so good silks have to suffice. It is lit at night. Color scheme in the room is red/black/white for Christmas. Our Little Cabin Getaway, Our little rustic cabin has been kept rustic with no electricity, no plumbing and a fireplace for heat. It is a great retreat for us just get away from it all and get back to the simple way of life.. We do use oil lamps, candles and battery operated emergency lights. We presently are in the stages of building a gravity fed outside shower and a thunderbox. We do have a well and plan on assembling a piston style hand pump to it so we can get fresh water when needed. A fire pit is our only means of boiling water and cooking food.. The cabin is located on our home property in the woods so we have the privacy we wanted. Even though we have a home there is something very special about our cabin and the natural way of living. The best part is there are no heat bills, water bills or electricity bills. and yet you have fun doing things for yourself and being creative. , Other Spaces Design

Foyer/Entryway, This is our tiny foyer/entryway. The front door is to the right, and den and guest bath to the left. Storage cubby mounted on right wall is useful for keys, hats, etc. Very small space, but the skylight helps to keep it light and bright. I've tried various furniture configurations. Decoupaged Checkerboard Floors, This basement renovation included the bathroom/laundry room. Freshly painted, the white washer and dryer, along with the cabinetry, go perfectly with the crisp style of checkerboard. The cement floor was smooth but not super level, which is no problem for decoupage!
