There is no room for a sofa table, although I have one, of which is placed in the foyer which I will post. The mantel is different now, and I love the new paintings I placed there, no more second mirror. Yes, there is a table next to the entertainment unit with a lamp and a large clock and two large sonces' around the clock, I'll post a pic of that as well. I can't place the large candles stick on the mantel anywhere else for now, due to having a three year old granchild in the home for now. She's already broken one TWICE so I placed them high until she's gone. Same with a sofa table behind the couch, she will nock everything over and break everything on it so for now, it needs to stay in the foyer. I'll post new pics. What a beautiful room!!It's so nice that you are receptive to suggestions. I'm not sure if I can improve on anything you've already done but I have a few comments.If you leave the mirror over the fireplace , you then have 2 mirrors in the room and very little art work. The candles on the fireplace plus the 2 vases on the floor are all verticle . I'd try to break it up . Perhaps group the 3 candles and put something else on other side. Maybe replace the vase on the hearth with the big vase of flowers. -nothing on the other side. The table next to the loveseat looks empty(can't really see it if so a lamp would look good. I see no lighting around the couch and loveseat. How about a sofa table behind the couch with lamps on that? I wonder what is next to the entertainment unit. Is there room for wall art? Can the 2 pieces you bought be hung horizontally?

Away with the swag treatment, or at least move them into the sun room ajoing this room, where french doors open to the outdoors until I can get something dofferent, but with the same color. Oh, and by the way, my camera's flash wasn't on. The room's overhead lights weren't on either. Need to take another pic with the lights on and the flash on on my camera phone. Big difference.

I would leave the mirror where it is because you've got a long dark room with dark furniture, and plenty of paintings on the other walls. If you want to add even more reflective surfaces to add light to your space, you can do so with distressed reflective vases, bowls, candle holders, lamp bases, frames etc. from Marshalls and other stores. I was just there and they have lots of neat things. Also, put mirrors on side table surfaces and under lamps for even more light reflection. Get those from craft stores like Michaels. As you're looking for things, keep in mind the balance of round/oval and square/rectangle shapes in your room. It's nice to have a mix.

Thank you for your comments. This is so exciting having new eyes for my space. I never have another pair of eyes with professional advice. Still working on it ladies, I will definately remove the swags when I get something different, and I will place them in the sun room rather than the great room where it opens to the outside. On another note, I have added new paintings I'm very excited about and am unsure where to put them. I've placed them on the mantel for now, but I'm thinking of replacing the mirror on the wall with the new paintings, thoughts?? Also, added pics of my living room I've just started. Going for cozy, but charming. Need advice on pics or paintings for the walls, if any. I'd love your expertice on the new living room I'm adding to this cite as well. THANKS and keep them coming.

Looks like it may be old world rather than rustic. If you really want to go rustic, you may want to look at ideas by typing "rustic living room" in the search box on HGTV.com.

I agree with Melrose that the room does not need those drapes with the swags. If you really want window treatments, you need something more substantial because of your leather furniture. Your room has great potential. Just keep playing around with it.

Your space has enormous potential. If your goal is rustic, I would lose that filmy swag treatment on the windows. Since this space opens to another room, rather than the outdoors, you could easily get away with no treatment at all. As for the rug, I'd keep it. It has a pattern and several colors, which provide some life and personality to the space.
