After seeing My Sweet Savannah's black interior doors I suddenly found myself up to my elbows in black paint. After a lot of work, and a ruined manicure I am happy with the results.

I've been wanting to do the black doors but was afraid to take the plunge. Mostly because my husband is scared, lol! I see it will a lot of taupe colors but my walls are almond brittle (much like yours only a tad lighter and didn't know how it would look. I have some espresso furniture in my living room so hopefully it will still go. Thanks!! Beautiful!!

Your doors look great! I love My Sweet Savannah too! I painted the inside of my front door black and just love it! I haven't gotten around to the others in fear of too much black since I have a lot of black furniture. I also tried MSSavannah's wall color of Brown Tepee and it looks amazing with black. Is that your wall color?

I tried to create a comfortable environment so that my students could focus on becoming good readers & writers. I don't believe in overhead lighting so we use all lamp and natural light. Pottery Barn Style Open Shelving Kitchen- REPOST, Hubby built open shelving in our kitchen with a surround for the fridge. Beadboard accents and baskets give it a cottage feel. We spent about $500 on wood and materials. The lower cabinets are the same maple ones that were there before we simply painted the island (small sink) and the cabinets along the wall black. The center island is painted the same colour as the open shelving but with black granite tile counters. Got the look w/out the price!, Kitchens Design

No, my boys are not this neat!, This is the bedroom of our two son's. Even though they are six years apart in age they love to share a room. My husband built the bookcase/desk built-in to hold all of their books & games. The closet was my husbands idea. Our Little Cabin Getaway, Our little rustic cabin has been kept rustic with no electricity, no plumbing and a fireplace for heat. It is a great retreat for us just get away from it all and get back to the simple way of life.. We do use oil lamps, candles and battery operated emergency lights. We presently are in the stages of building a gravity fed outside shower and a thunderbox. We do have a well and plan on assembling a piston style hand pump to it so we can get fresh water when needed. A fire pit is our only means of boiling water and cooking food.. The cabin is located on our home property in the woods so we have the privacy we wanted. Even though we have a home there is something very special about our cabin and the natural way of living. The best part is there are no heat bills, water bills or electricity bills. and yet you have fun doing things for yourself and being creative. , Other Spaces Design

Foyer/Entryway, This is our tiny foyer/entryway. The front door is to the right, and den and guest bath to the left. Storage cubby mounted on right wall is useful for keys, hats, etc. Very small space, but the skylight helps to keep it light and bright. I've tried various furniture configurations. Decoupaged Checkerboard Floors, This basement renovation included the bathroom/laundry room. Freshly painted, the white washer and dryer, along with the cabinetry, go perfectly with the crisp style of checkerboard. The cement floor was smooth but not super level, which is no problem for decoupage! Once finished, it's easy to damp mop clean with no grout line or cracks between tiles to catch dirt., Other Spaces Design
