I just put my curtain rods and plain heavy curtains in white.

I love the clean lines of your room but it needs the finishing touches. I think those zig-zag curtains suggested by CJS sound perfect for the room. I would then add a large area rug and a lamp on that table between the chairs. That plant is sort of lost there. Add some pillows on the couch with a touch of red to tie in the chairs and I would love to see a large abstract print above the chairs with some vibrant colors including the red.

Crate and Barrel's Teramo zig-zag curtain panels would be awesome...adding punch but staying neutral. They have texture and sheen also.

I would hang panels floor to ceiling and leave the windows exposed if privacy isn't an issue. I love natural light streaming into a room. I'd be tempted to go with some type of pattern, or significant texture, for the curtains. I think your room needs it. I love the floors.
