Modernist Mother-in-Law's Apartment, My home was built in 1950 and included a detached carport with a large two-room workshop. In January of this year, I embarked on a project to build a completely self-contained apartment for myself on the existing slab of the carport/workshop and invited my daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons to move into the main house. The new apartment was immediately dubbed "The Modernist Nest" by a fellow blogger.

It took three months to complete the construction and a couple more months to landscape, but I'm finally in and enjoying my new 676 sf nest-space very much., Other Spaces Design

1915 Bungalow Renovation, Our home is located in the Five Points area of Raleigh, NC, and was built in 1915. The home was originally a 2 bedroom/1 bath home built over a full basement. We renovated the original part of the home and added a master bedroom with bath, family room, screened porch & deck. Instead of adding more basement space beneath the addition, we instead made that new space an oversized garage., Other Spaces Design
