My hillside garden beginning to bloom. I tend to have to wait to later in the summer before I get any color except for my groundcovers, and a few bulbs because of cold Northern winds.

This is going to be a long work in progress! My husband and I recently purchased a rustic mountain cabin. The kitchen is TINY! But I believe once it's finished and organized, it'll be great. This space has a tongue and grove pine cathedral ceiling and is extremely open. As you can see, it also has paneling. We aren't crazy about the paneling, but it will have to do...at least for now. I am going to paint the paneling downstairs (not yet posted) to lighten it up. The flooring in the kitchen will eventually be replaced with pine planks. At the moment, it has 1975 linoleum that has black duct tape in the center. The dishwasher didn't work and I chose to not replace it do to lack of cabinet space. (We shall see if that lasts!) There is also a pendant light which I refer to as a gypsy tea room light (no offense to anyone!) that will be replaced by a lighted pot rack. A huge ugly awning hung over the range hood and fridge that took up 1/2 of the visual space. My wonderful hubby and his father removed it and I removed 35 years of grunge from the range hood. The Harvest Gold stove was original to the house and there was a rather small fridge. The cabinetry under the window is not in keeping with the house...It will be distressed and stained dark and have faux feet added and the broom closet/pantry will have Ice Box hardware! I have plans for this space but definitely welcome any suggestions!

My hubby and I had a lot of fun putting together this nursery for our little "surprise".
My mom helped by making the quilt (on the wall), the crip bumper, and the dust ruffle. I designed the covered wagon and my mom and hubby did the dirty work!
It was super fun to see it all come together with just a bunch of craigslist and garage sale finds.

This is my favorite room to decorate. It's so small and cozy that a few little touches go a long way to define the style and create the mood. It's a simpler look than last year but much more practical. I have no fussy decorations to move when I want to serve a tasty breakfast or have a friend over for tea. Although a rug looks good, it's really not practical in this heavily used room and so it had to go. My theme this year is definitely PRETTY but PRACTICAL.

Our one of a kind bed is made from 3 old doors. We stripped the 5 layers of paint, pressure washed the doors and stained them with ebony stain. We love the rustic old look. With 10 foot ceilings we loved the idea of having the pearl paint stripes and toile wall paper above a plate rail that was put at 7 feet. This room our favorite place to relax and watch a movie or and episode of our DVR shows. The cable box and DVD player are hidden up on a shelf in the master bathroom which shares a wall with the TV.
