Breakfast Nook - Dining Room Ready for the Christmas Holidays 2011, This is my favorite room to decorate. It's so small and cozy that a few little touches go a long way to define the style and create the mood. It's a simpler look than last year but much more practical. I have no fussy decorations to move when I want to serve a tasty breakfast or have a friend over for tea. Although a rug looks good, it's really not practical in this heavily used room and so it had to go. My theme this year is definitely PRETTY but PRACTICAL., Holidays Design
Rustic Kitchen Udate, We recently updated our kitchen by giving it a facelift that was way over due. I painted the bottom of our run-of-the-mill oak cabinets in Federal Gray and the tops in Pure White using the Rustoleum Cabinet Transformation kits. My husband added a false top and decorative molding to the upper cabinets to add height. We added recessed lighting and a new light fixture over the sink. For widow casings, my husband added more molding and crown to the tops. I made simple cafe curtains for the windows and hung them with simple cafe tension rods. We added more molding to our awkward column located near the bar and a shelf over the fridge to fill in the wasted space. The two big splurges that we made in the room, were the copper farmhouse sink with new faucet and granite countertops. The walls were painted in Valspar Eddie Bauer, Cloth. A framed chalkboard wall for displaying the kids artwork and grocery lists finished the room. , Kitchens Design
My Summer Garden, We moved here in late winter 2007, and I began planning then. I'm new to Northern gardening, and have used a lot of reference materials to find plants for this zone. A lot of trial and error, and this is my work in progress. All ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated., Gardens Design
My Winter Paradise, Our home is on a wooded hill and the surrounding "yard" is all slopes except for one area. There are large boulders and all sorts of rock all around the property. The views are gorgeous to a southern girl who loves the snow., Yards Design
Budget Rustic Log Home Kitchen Redo, Our small log home kitchen is open to the great room and gets lots of natural light. We did not like the original kitchen so we refurbished and reused with a faux technique I found here on RMS. We've got less than $1800 including the new convection/microwave oven. You've got to see the before to really appreciate the after., Kitchens Design
