Well, our yard is 95% complete. I would still like a pergola for shade but I am very pleased with what we have completed thus far!

FYI: My hubby added on to our patio with concrete pavers and we planted 160+ perennials. Next we added the fire pit and then the flagstone walkway. We spend a lot of time cooking out and enjoy listening to the crickets while we chill with a glass of wine!

Backyard needs help!, Hi Everyone,

This is our new backyard. As you can see, we have a blank canvas. We would like your ideas for designing a backyard to meet all of our "wishlist."

Hubby and I would like a place to cook-out/entertain, a yard for the grandkids to play, a firepit area, a water feature, and a vegetable garden. That's not too much to ask, is it? :-D

We plan to extend the patio area and cover it with a pergola or porch next summer. In the meantime, we are working on planting grass, creating beds, and adding on to the patio.

The choice of materials and a plan to bring all of these spaces together is daunting! I like informal, cottage gardens with paths, perennials, etc. But this house is more traditional. I have attached a picture of the front landscaping to give you some perspective.

Cottage Kitchen, My house is 93 years old and came with a kitchen that had not been updated since the 50's. I removed a warped drop ceiling fluorescent lights pulled up the stained vinyl floor and muchmuch more. Complete redo. I designed it and sub- contracted all the work! Flea Market Flip, This was a sad rusty piece that was once a flea market purchase that was left out in the yard to hold a planter..It was brought to my attention and I spruced it up so now it will be put outside and catch many eyes as people go through or by the yard..I am currently looking for one or two like pieces to transform into lamp tables or outdoor side tables...Will fill the center with colorful wax chips and crystal beads..and when they melt the beads should glimmer through.., Yards Design
