1890s Victorian Farm House, Living Room - Original Faux Bois Woodwork, What is Faux Bois? A fashion statement of the late 1890s to have an artisan paint woodwork to resemble more exotic or expensive wood. In our 1893 Victorian our pine woodwork was painted to resemble quarter sawn oak maghogany and walnut. I made only minor touch ups with artist oils., Living Rooms Design
Blue and Brown bathroom with tree, Half bath with tree theme. One wall is faux bois (fake wood) painted in brown and metallic gold. One wall has a large wall decal with a chocolate brown tree and metallic gold grass. This is in an older home that we have been updating ourselves and on a budget. This was my first time painting faux bois..I really liked the finished product., Bathrooms Design

Long Master Bedroom in my Cape Cod , This bedroom in my Cape Cod seems roomy after I changed to a queen sizebed & headboard only. The walls are taupe venetian plaster topped by a narrow ledge shelf where I can display photos. Above the ledge the walls are painted a deep garnet red. The bedding is that same garnet red chocolate copper and taupe quilted silk. Windows have natural wood blinds & brown silk draperies with pewter hardware. The chest is a 50's re-do I did with vertical faux woodgrain on the drawer fronts. , Bedrooms Design
Chinoiserie Living Room, This room has evolved over many years.
It originally had a shed style roof. We centered it adding beams and recessed lights. We replaced the windows with french door s and skim coated the walls for a smooth finish. We painted them gray with a slightly darker version on the ceiling. We stained the beams a greenish brown. On a trip to Paris in 1999 we came across our unique & amazing fireplace mantle, overmantle and matching screen and had it shipped back. A dear friend gave us the beautiful painting. We couldn't believe it when it fit the opening perfectly! We call her the lady of the house. Over the years we've found many treasures that have found their way into our Living Room like the extremely unusual brass rolling ball clock I found just this week at TJ Maxx!
As I write this, I'm so sad because as I was trying to add more photos I accidently deleted the room and all the wonderful comments, views and ratings I had received over the past few weeks.
So here is the new and hopefully improved Chinoiserie or Asian Inspired Living Room, hope you like it!, Living Rooms Design
A Fireplace Makeover, Our fireplace was painted white. It was really boring and needed help! So, I faux finished the brick, and accessorized it with a French Country feel. For more ideas stop by http://www.decorating-ideas-made-easy.com, Living Rooms Design
