Budget-Friendly DIY Kitchen Makeover, The 1990s oak kitchen in my new-to-me lakehouse was dated, worn-out, and provided little storage space. With my Handy Hubby, I removed the upper cabinetry and tile, painted the remaining lower cabinets turquoise, added crisp white paneling, open shelving and DIY pantry, built a DIY solid maple counter, plus added a shiny new sink, faucet, and hardware. It's a temporary solution to get us through the next five years while we save for a major remodel, but we like it so much it might stick around longer!

See more of the space here (including links to all of the DIY projects and sources plus a budget breakdown):

Un Kitsch(Jean) Reno, Here's our teeny 64-square foot, 1980s 'blech' galley opened up into a warm, Parisian-style apartment kitchen for less than $12K. For our first renovation project, we played it safe by saving up & paying the experts to do the hard, dangerous, and/or expensive-to-repair stuff and focused on creating a warm space we knew we'd love for years to come., Kitchens Design
A Crafty Getaway, Welcome to my craft room/office! I enjoy painting, crocheting, and card making especially. I’m a part time college student and part time entrepreneur. My desk is for official business but the color inspires my creativity. I have a reading corner to sit back and enjoy some quiet time. I decided to use a folding table and chair for my crafts; this gives me the option to use the center of my room for exercise/yoga. It also doesn’t matter if I get glue and glitter all over it. I still need a few things to make my room complete: a tv, an easel, and a Cricut machine. I might buy a chevron rug for the center of the room too. I live in an apartment, so rather than paint the entire room (and have to paint it white when I move), I sponge painted a confetti wall with pink and glitter paint. I decided to get a dresser to keep my fabric and yarn and other materials because it hides the mess. I also want to paint the dresser and mirror. I hope you enjoy the tour :), Other Spaces Design
Century-old, spanish style California rental, This is the main living space, with original hardwood floors and high domed ceilings. Since it has the colorful spanish tiles around the fireplace, that was basically the pre-designated color scheme- I did not want to completely decorate around the room, since its a small rental duplex and I will probably grow out of it soon. Hence I did not add window treatments in this room (there are so many windows in the house and all different sizes, I was stressing out about having to measure and purchase all of the hardware, so decided just to leave them bare in the living room). I like that the room faces South so it gets lots of light all day. With the loud red couches, and yellow paint accents, I tried to keep the rest of the room simple with black/ ivory. I inherited a lot of antique furniture which is mostly in other rooms in the house- I was trying to keep the main space more modern with espresso toned wood and clean white tables., Living Rooms Design
